Fidelity invests in California cybersecurity firm Malwarebytes

Fidelity Investments has invested $50 million in Malwarebytes, a cybersecurity company based in San Jose, Calif.

Malwarebytes builds anti-virus software of various stripes for computers and mobile devices. Their customers include people making purchases for their personal devices, and also more than 50,000 businesses.

The company has more than 200 employees and has offices in Clearwater, Fla., Estonia, and Ireland.

The latest funding follows an initial $30 million investment from Cambridge-based Highland Capital Partners in 2014. Malwarebytes was founded in 2008.
