Concord-based Isabella Products Inc., maker of the Fable tablet computer for children, has acquired StarWalk Kids Media, of Great Neck, NY, a maker of electronic books for children. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

StarWalk has produced about 600 electronic books for students from kindergarten to eighth grade. These include about 90 titles available in Spanish as well as English.

Isabella’s Fable tablet is based on a customized version of the Android operating system with enhanced parental control features to ensure that children can’t make purchases or get access to inappropriate materials online. The tablet connects to an online marketplace stocked with child-friendly books, videos and games, and is currently being tested in pilot programs at schools in Boston and New York City.
