This evening, TUGG and InsightSquared are co-hosting a party to celebrate the opening of the new Kendall Square location of InnerCity Weightlifting.
The organization, started by Jon Feinman in Dorchester to help keep students from some the violence-riddled sections of Boston off the streets, has expanded beyond just being a place for kids. More and more, students — and even some young men and women who may have spent time in prison — are learning to become personal trainers through InnerCity and building successful careers.
In 2014, the organization launched a pop-up location in Kendall’s Microsoft office and brought many of its personal trainers to Cambridge. The new gym in Kendall will serve as an outpost serving kids in Cambridge as well as a place for its personal trainers to hone their skills.
Tonight’s event will serve as a preview to InnerCity Weightlifting’s new Kendall gym and will include pushup contests, beer, pizza, and tours of the workout space. Any one interested in the event can sign up on the event page, and give to the non-profit here.
