Airbnb has announced that it’s getting into the magazine business. Their new quarterly print publication, dubbed Pineapple, is “named after the fruit that was a symbol of hospitality in colonial New England,” according to The New York Times. The first issue is 128 pages, contains no advertising, and will be available for purchase for $12.

Airbnb CMO Jonathan Mildenhall told Skift the product is designed to read like any other travel magazine, and will not be a showcase of Airbnb properties. “Pineapple will combine the emotional and practical sides of traveling by giving a comprehensive guide to neighborhoods and cities, as well as capturing the sense of belonging that comes from a memorable trip.” The first issues will cover three popular destinations on the site: Seoul, London, and San Francisco.

Many questions arise about their new effort: Will renters be required to keep issues on their coffee tables?  Will under-the-sea destinations be included in the feature well? Will magazine deliveries come with a side of real fruit?
