Yesterday I bumped into a very busy local tech guy, David Rose, in a CIC elevator.
“So what’re you up to, David?”
OK that’s not exactly how it went, but this is in fact the situation for Rose. In May he raised $2.2 million for his Cambridge startup, Ditto Labs, which scours photos on Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr to identify consumer brand logos for big companies. He also just authored “Enchanted Objects: Design, Human Desire, and the Internet of Things” — about how everyday objects can become more intelligent and helpful — and serves as a lecturer and researcher at the MIT Media Lab.
To promote his book, he’ll be the special guest on “The Daily Show” on Tuesday. It airs at 11 p.m., so tune in to hear him try to explain what exactly an “enchanted object” is to Jon Stewart, or check back here for the interview (which we’re planning to embed).
