Ducoff has just left as VP of content and operations at Boundless, a Boston startup offering digital textbooks and other online education resources. He hopes to use his experience leading startups to help Northeastern develop and launch new opportunities that advance the university’s strategic growth and expansion initiatives.
Ducoff said that he was excited to join Northeastern and that the chance to propel Northeastern to the forefront of innovation in higher education was too much to pass up. “When those types of doors open,” he said, “you have to walk through them.” Ducoff will help incubate new business initiatives at the university and help shape the “new model of education that moves beyond traditional boundaries.”
The school’s long running co-op program, its “apprenticeship education” as Ducoff called it, was one thing that attracted him to the university. “Northeastern is at the forefront of experiential education and I look forward to creating and expanding programs that help students across the world realize their highest potential,” he added in a statement.
Before joining Boundless, Ducoff, co-founded cloud-based big data company InfoChimps (which was acquired by CSC in 2013) and worked with many Fortune 500 companies on investments and business development. A graduate from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University and The University of Texas School of Law at Austin, Ducoff were he got his JD while taking MBA level courses. He is also a licensed attorney in both Massachusetts and Texas.
Ducoff is also an active angel investor; recently, he has invested in Dunwello and Panorama Education.
Philomena Mantella, the senior vice president for enrollment management and student affairs at Northeastern said, “Nick brings the entrepreneurial leadership and visionary thinking that will push Northeastern to change the face of higher education.”
